Helical Fletching
Helical fletching is vanes glued at an angle so the arrow spins as it flies. That spin keeps a fixed-blade broadhead from planing. TitleX hunting fletch in the 3D custom arrow builder is helical only. You pick left helical or right helical.
Who it is for
Hunters who shoot a fixed blade. Anyone whose groups open when they screw a head on after a field-point tune. 3D and target shooters who want a calmer arrow in a crosswind run helical too. Pick left or right and keep the whole dozen the same direction.

Spine, diameter, and length
Helical is the vane angle, not a spine row. TitleX shafts are 5mm / .204 — TX-5, TX-23, and Mach XV. Vanes glue to that carbon, or to a vinyl wrap on that carbon. A longer cut puts more shaft behind the vanes and weakens dynamic spine; a shorter cut stiffens it. Helical adds a little rear drag and a little rear weight, which lowers FOC a bit. Check the FOC calculator on the finished arrow, and pick spine on the spine chart — do not jump a spine row only because you switched helical.
The builder also lets you pick 3 fletch or 4 fletch. Four vanes steer harder and add more rear mass. Three is the hunting default. If your rest slaps a vane, that is clearance, not a reason to skip helical.
Mistakes that cost groups and penetration
- Skipping helical on a fixed blade. TitleX glues helical. If you fletch at home with vanes in line with the shaft, the head acts like a wing. Tune looks fine with field points, then the head walks.
- Left and right in the same dozen. Pick one direction and stay there. The builder is Left or Right.
- Fletching before the wrap is down. Vanes belong on the vinyl, not on a lifted edge. See arrow wrap installation.
- Changing helical and not retuning. Paper or bare-shaft again with the same point grain, then the head you hunt with. Sequence is on broadhead compatibility.
- Blaming helical for a weak or stiff shaft. If the paper tear is ugly before you fletch, fix rest and spine first.
How TitleX builds it
Helical is not a separate SKU. It is a fletch choice on a custom dozen. In the builder you pick 3 or 4 fletch, then left or right helical, plus vane colors. Shop fletch means TitleX glues that helical on the bench. DIY fletch means the vanes ship and you glue them. Match the cart to the labor so you do not get a fletched dozen you meant to wrap at home.
