Broadhead Compatibility Guide for 5mm Carbon Arrows in 2026

TitleX hunting shafts are 5mm / .204. A broadhead has to match that diameter, the insert you glue, and the grain you tuned. TitleX sells field points. Match them to the head you hunt with, then fly that same grain on the carbon, cut, insert, and helical. Build that dozen in the 3D custom arrow builder.

What “compatible” means on 5mm carbon

  • Inside diameter. .204 inserts and half-outs. A 6.5mm ferrule or outsert does not belong on these shafts.
  • Grain. Tune and hunt the same number. 100-grain field points with a 125-grain head is a different arrow.
  • Ferrule flight. Fixed blades need helical and enough FOC. Mechanicals are more forgiving but still want the same point weight you practiced.

What you need

  • Field points that match the broadhead grain (125 grain head → 125 grain field point)
  • A bag or block you can read, and a known close distance — 10–20 yards is enough to start
  • The rest, nocking point, and draw you will hunt with, not a shop bow

Tune in this order

  1. Lock point weight. If the head is 125, the field point is 125. Spine and FOC both move if you cheat this.
  2. Paper or bare shaft at close range. Hang a sheet of paper a couple of yards in front of the bag, or shoot an unfletched shaft. Nock left or right is rest and centershot first. Nock high or low is nocking point. Do not jump to a weaker spine because the first tear looked ugly.
  3. Fletch with helical. TitleX hunting fletch in the builder is helical so the head spins. See helical fletching. A fixed blade without helical is a common plane.
  4. Check FOC. Light fronts plane. Wraps and lighted nocks pull FOC back. Use the FOC calculator or the builder estimate, then a knife-edge on the finished arrow.
  5. Shoot the broadhead at the same aiming point as the field points. If the head is left and the field points are in, you still have a rest or weak/stiff issue — not a sight-tape issue.

When to change spine instead of the rest

After the bow is in, if a heavy head still kicks, you may be under-spined for that front weight. TitleX publishes 250, 300, 350, and 400. Use the spine chart for GPI, then change one thing: point weight, cut length, or spine row. Do not change all three in the same session.
