Phone Chrono Beta

This tool is in beta. Check the speed before you trust it on a tape or a hunt.

Need a speed without a chrono on the bench. This page times the shot and the hit, then backs out launch fps. Twenty yards is easy. Six to eight yards indoors will often read high because a wall bounce lands before the target. A radar unit still wins. Use this when you do not have one.

How to set it up

Park the phone on your shooting mark, even with the arrow. Stand a half-step to the side. Mark the yards with a steel tape — a laser is too sloppy for this. An inch or two of slop will move the number.

Type finished grains so we can give launch speed, not just the mean over the line. Room temp is enough. Foam usually reads cleaner than a bag.

Tight rooms bounce sound. If every shot reads 50–80 fps hot, the clock is grabbing an echo — step back to 15 or 20 yards, or hit something that pops. Weak or Failed shots mean the same: go somewhere more open.
