Sight Tape Calculator Beta

This tool is in beta. Confirm the printed marks before you trust the tape.

Build a printable sight tape from chrono speed, finished arrow weight, and the gap between your 20 and 60 yard pins. Print at 100% scale and check the 2×2 in square before you stick it on the sight.

Arrow & speed

Chrono speed and finished arrow weight set the drag model. Linked from the kinetic energy calculator as ?fps= — weight follows your saved calculator defaults.

280 fps
450 gr

Tip type

Fixed blade adds drag vs a field point — match what you hunt with.

Sight configuration

Peep-to-sight and peep height at full draw set how ballistic drop maps to inches on your printed tape. Measure peep-to-sight horizontally (peep center to pin/aperture) and peep height vertically (peep center to arrow shaft center).

Spot Hogg Fast Eddie / XL use rack-and-pinion geometry (not a flat slider). Select your model for correct wheel-tape spacing.

Units

Measured peep at brace? Estimate full draw

The field above is full draw (peep center to arrow shaft). If you only measured at rest, enter that here plus bow geometry — we convert using string angle at draw vs brace.

Estimated full-draw peep height: —

Optional — thinner air at elevation reduces drag. Leave blank for sea level. Chronograph speed is usually measured at your altitude; enter density alt from your weather app or field forecast.

Scale to your sight

Peep-to-sight and peep height map drop to inches on the tape. Measure the 20–60 gap on your sight (often 0.75–1.5″) to scale print to your setup. Clear the gap field to print a ±fps family at native spacing.

Testing — reference tape span

Tick-to-tick length of the yardage range above, from a tape you already trust. Example: 3.64 for 20–130. The 20–60 gap stays on your calipers. Marks past 60 spread out so the printed tape matches this length. Set Start to 20 if 3.64 is measured from the 20 mark.

Enter your measured 20–60 gap to scale the printed tape to your sight.

Tape set

Tick spacing

2 yd includes 1 yd marks between — no extra toggle needed.

Tick marks

1 yd mark align

Align short 1 yd tick marks left, center, or right — works with 1 yd or 2 yd spacing.

Yardage labels

Split labels

10 yd labels on the right, 5 yd on the left when using 10 + 5 yd labels. With 10 yd only, even decades (20/40/60) right, odd (30/50) left.

Yardage text

On tick line

Nudge yardage numbers up or down from each tick. Top and bottom marks stay inside the tape.

0.35"

Match your sight rail or printed strip width. Fine-tune under Tape size & print correction.

68% across

How far 10 yd ticks reach across the tape. 5 yd and 1 yd marks stay proportional.

100% of default

Fine-tune yardage text after setting tape width. Auto-fits to the rail — slide up if numbers feel small.

5 yd tick color

Highlights 25, 35, 45… tick marks when using 2 yd spacing (or any yard ending in 5 except 10s).

5 yd label color

Turns on with 10 + 5 yd labels. Colors 25, 35, 45… separately — defaults to your 5 yd tick color. Switch back to Same as text if you want them to match the 10s.

Print page

Print at 100% scale. Use the 2×2 in square to verify X and Y.

Tape measurements (troubleshooting)
Tape size & print correction

Leave height blank for auto. 4×6 prints two labels: setup on the first, tapes on the second.

After a test print, measure the 2×2 in square on both axes (or the 1 in cross). Enter what it should be vs what you got — we scale the tape to match.
